Employee seats charged whenever the plan bills
Creating or reactivating an employee charges a seat whenever the plan bills, including past_due and granted plans; trial employees are deactivated when billing starts, a new 503 applies when batches are enabled, and seat offers on an active subscription start at the next renewal. Eight updated operations.
8 October 2026 — Employee seats are now charged on every plan that bills, and seat offers redeemed on an active subscription start at the next renewal. Read Employee seat billing for the whole model.
- A seat whenever the plan bills — each creation or reactivation that is not
already covered charges a seat on a paid plan subscription, also when it is
past_due, and on an Esencial, Profesional or Avanzado plan granted by Factuarea without an open subscription. See When a seat is charged. - Closed exemptions — only Enterprise and managed companies (billed by contract), an active trial and sandbox never charge a seat.
- No prior opt-in — without an
employee-seatssubscription, the first creation or reactivation creates it and bills only the new employees; employees already active start being billed at the next renewal. See The first seat and employees already active. - Payment errors — without a payment method the request returns
402employee_seat_payment_method_required(witherror.details.payment_setup_url), and a declined charge returns402employee_seat_charge_failed. Nobody is created or reactivated in either case. - Trial employees — employees are added at no charge during the trial. When the
company starts paying, the employees created during the trial become
inactivewithout any automatic charge, and reactivating each one charges its seat. See Employees created during the trial. - New
503when batches are enabled — if employee batches are enabled for the account, creating or reactivating an employee can return503employee_batch_quote_unavailable; nobody was created or charged, so retry the same request. Without batches, the synchronous per-employee charge applies. See Availability. - Seat offers on an active subscription — a recurring benefit (a
repeatingorforeverdiscount, or a negotiated price) redeemed on an active employee-seat or managed-company-seat subscription starts at the next renewal: the quote returnsbenefit_starts_atequal tonext_bill_at, today only the new seats are charged at the current conditions, the current period is not credited and no customer balance is created. See Private billing offers.

the 503 retry for accounts with employee batches enabled.
